Marjorie Jean Gould (Gieldseth)
1920-2010
Marge Gould died in her sleep the morning of May 18th.
Marge said she wanted to live to be 90 years old. We celebrated that birthday with her at St. Luke’s on January 31st. Over the past months, as Marge’s body slowed her down, her spirit was undaunted. A couple days before her death, I gathered with Marge and family members for prayers with her–prayers of strength for her final journey. Several times during that visit, Marge rustled up great expressions of joy.
She is among the longer-time members of St. Luke’s. Born into the parish in 1920, Marge and her sister Margaret (Sebelist) were confirmed at St. Luke’s by Bishop Huston in 1931. During WWII, Marge signed up for military service and served in intelligence at the Pentagon in Washington DC. She later married Donald Gould, farmed in Kent, and raised her family. Until very recently, Marge regularly volunteered at the Renton Historical Society, and the Renton Food Bank. She lived frugally and gave of herself generously.
We will celebrate the life of Marge Gould on Saturday, June 5th at 11 AM. Please join us for this Requiem Eucharist of a long a faithful servant of God.
Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord
And let light perpetual shine upon her
May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed
Rest in peace.
